I know, I know... I promised better movie reviews for The Punisher, but never did it. I guess to keep from having to put a spoiler warning up, I will say, it's a good film, certainly better than the last Punisher but then again even watching grass grow would be better than that. It's a generally fun movie that doesn't try to take itself too seriously, and the couple of scenes that do were way over the top for me, and felt out of place. And yes, I have a high squick tolerance in general, but two scenes in particular made me right ill. So there you go, it's worth seeing, but maybe waiting for it at the rental stores is your best plan.

In other news, I managed to get the Dragon*Con flyers done for the Atlanta Comicon this weekend, despite the world conspiring against me. I am assuming that when the Chairman picked them up they were ok since I never got a phone call with someone frothing at the mouth.

Now, I am desperately trying to complete another project for Dragon*Con that makes me question my own sanity for trying to do it in the first place. *grumble* Of course, I can't really talk about it - you know for a person that doesn't like to keep secrets I sure have a lot of them...

Watched Lost in Translation on DVD the other night. It has a very indie movie feel which I really liked. Personally, I wasn't fond of the ending, but over all another enjoyable film. Wached Ringu again, it's the movie that The Ring was based off of, and I still prefer it. It just makes more sense, although the American one does get kudos for the whole creepy eerie visual effects. Seems like I watch a lot of movies... but I realized once that while most people like to listen to music while they work, I prefer to have the tele on, or a movie. I guess the moving images are more comforting to me. Music on the other hand distracts me to no end. Chock another one up to the weirdness of me.

Going to go pop in Shiri now - it's a Korean female sniper/assassin flick - and get back to work on the project from hades.

I haven't seen Ringu yet. I really disliked Lost in Translation. Totally in agreement that it had the Indie feel (which I love of course), but the characters were too one dimensional, imho. And it seemed that the focus of the film was more on setting a tone or mood---not a deeper story that had real bite.

So many good films coming out! We should plan a movie night sometime soon...or a matinee day. Money is an issue with us right now, so we really have to watch our wallets.

There are too many good films coming out! We should pool our intellectual resources and figure out how to knock over a bank or something in order to finance our movie going desires!

muhahahahaha!

Hey now! I liked the original Punisher! >;)~

I didn't like Lost in Translation at all. It could have gone any direction, but never did. You just kind of meandered from one scene to the next, which is a cool concept, it just wasn't done right. You never really developed a relationship with the characters one way or another where you cared about them...great for slasher/horror flicks, bad for a wannabe indie movie that haughtily takes itself too seriously. Just my opinion. :)

I'm going to post some reviews in a little bit of my own, but I'll tell you this:

Go rent Drakengard (http://www.square-enix-usa.com/games/drakengard/) NOW!!! It is one of the best games I've played!

Well... I did rent it once... and I did love it... oh how I loved it... with its shiny new dragon and screaming hoards trying to slaughter you...

But alas, my PS2, overwhelmed with the new sparkly's intensity committed sepuku as its brilliance could never be matched again...

And as neither you, or your dear wife have sorted out how I can knock over a bank, I will just have to keep sitting and idly staring at the poor deceased PS2.
