I am taking a break from the meaningless hell that has become the two weeks before Dragon*Con. Tuesday night, I got home from Border Pagans and learned that 40 pages were added to the Pocket Program, along with the other 72, making 112 pages that have to be typeset by Friday. *yay*
I see this being a sleepless 36 hours more and hoping I am skilled enough to get it done. Funny thing is, it always DOES get done, but until I hand the CD to the printer and it's out of my hands I won't feel good about it.
But enough of that - that isn't what I am here to talk about.
I think I mentioned at some point that I have a lot on my mind, but that I was going to wait until after D*C to get into it. Well, I changed my mind about waiting, mostly because the wheels keep turning and it's distracting the hell out of me when I need to be working.
Once Dragon*Con is over, I am going to be devoting 75% of my free time to a new project, an online manga, the other 25% will be spent working on a novel I am writing, and the ongoing fictional journal Lysette's Soliloquium.
This being said, there are things that I need to have done, and handled on a regular basis.
The foremost thing being the redesign and maintenance of my primary web site at Animetion Ink. Once it is redesigned, I will need this person to take the pages of the Manga and upload them once a week. I say this because, like most artists, I have a tendency to need my ego stroked. Therefore, since I will have 6-8 pages before I start posting them, I will need someone that has the will power to keep them posting at 1 a week, even when there are more available. This person will also need to be able to maintain a forum for the manga once it gets started.
Beyond that, I need this person to be able to redesign and maintain my online store at Animetion Ink's Store. I need this person not only to redesign the shop but also to be able to stay on top of the latest products available, decide (from a marketing stand point) which ones I should be coming out with next, and just tell me "I need you to do a picture this size by this size in X dpi" then have them handle the set up of the pages and products with that image.
I also need this person to be up on the latest conventions, and decide which ones I should submit art work to, as well as decide about marketing pieces (business cards, advertisements, etc). As well as be on the look out for possible publishers of my work.
Yes, I know HTML and some Java and I can hard code, and I can do all of these things myself. However, just because I can do something doesn't mean I should do it. These things I need very badly to be done, but they are nothing more than distractions for me from what I feel I need to be doing.
I need this person to be able to accept doing all this for perhaps a percentage from the store sales, or something like that - it's not a joke when I say I am a starving artist - at least until I start making more money with my work.
I suppose I am saying, I am in dire need of an agent/manager/web designer/lacky/friend.
Help??
Please??
Seriously, if you or anyone you know might be this person, please let me know.
Now that my brain is less cluttered, I am going to go work on D*C stuff. Here are some quizzes to amuse you in the meantime!

Date: 2003-08-21 03:32 pm (UTC)I mean, with a huge convention like that, and an audience that is already into the convention scene, perhaps you could offer and internship (for college students or a competent high schooler) and a letter of reference? I'm sure some of those folks are into web design/maintenence, etc. And you could teach them the rest.
Plus all you can drink coffee? : )
Good luck!
Believe me, I know what it's like to be swamped with art business To Do Tasks.

Date: 2003-08-21 03:36 pm (UTC)I have business cards already, so will take those with me. If I get this D*C stuff done in a reasonable amount of time, I will try to put a flyer together (very good idea).
I guess part of the problem is, I am going to have to trust this person very much, which is why I was hoping for a friend of a friend of a friend sort of thing.
Sometimes, I guess we just have to find new people and bring them into our lives.
If I find anyone, I will let you know. :)

Date: 2003-09-04 02:37 pm (UTC)I have saved answering your message until last because quite honestly I am so happy to have a response I might cry.
Of course, I have been perusing your website, and it's stunning. I don't really need a resume so much as I need to know what you are looking for, and what you feel you can do to help me.
I see you know closer2myself, she has my phone number if you want to ring me up. Or if you want to email me, I am at cassy@animetionink.com .
Yes, I designed animetionink.com, and yes, I know it's in a sad state of affairs! It looks like something that rolled out of the 80s. heh
Anyway, drop me a line sometime and we can talk about where we go from here.
