Cool Auction Piece
Nov. 6th, 2003 04:55 pmWell, I guess this goes back into my version of public service announcements. I just got this in the mail from my Vachss Newsletter:
The Sentinels look like mechanical octopuses, and swim through the Matrix to correct problems in the time stream. The creatures were designed by Matrix creative director Geof Darrow [who has illustrated numerous projects with Andrew Vachss]; the effects team created two 30"-long real-life representations of Darrow's drawing for use in filming, enhancing the models with CGI effects.
Darrow donated the prop--and an original drawing of the Sentinel--to Protect, America's first political lobby for child protection. The prop will be auctioned via eBay from Tuesday, November 4, at 4:30 PM Pacific through Friday, November 14, at 4:30 Pacific. The auction can be reached from a search on eBay for "actual prop matrix" [http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3360310011] or more easily via a link at www.protect.org.
Darrow and Matrix writers/director Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski are on the advisory board for Protect.
If you are so inclined, please check it out - 100 percent of the sale is going to Protect.
