And you all wonder why I can't be Zen....
Aug. 24th, 2004 08:38 amMy laptop is literally dead.
I ran it nearly 20 hours a day for the last two weeks and it has decided that seppuku is a much more honorable death then living and working for me. Spent all day Sunday rebuilding my desktop from a formatting of the C drive, only to have my monitor go the way of the dodo.
3 weeks estimate before I can have my laptop, and about $400 minimum for a new motherboard (I actually worked the little guy to death). Spent $300 instead on a new monitor for the desktop so I could at least have a working machine.
The chairman said rather wisely, "Everything will be ok, and it's not like someone died - although, I am guessing at this moment, it would have been preferable to your laptop going down."
At least I got all my data off the laptop (yay recent backups and a $20 piece of equipment that lets you plug n play laptop hard drives into a USB port).
Needless to say, I am now around 3 days behind schedule (laptop died on Saturday evening). I have three art pieces (sketched 2.5 of them this morning, have to scan and make them beautiful), about 32 pages of the program book to edit, and the entire schedule/pocket program to lay out - and all before Friday.
And people keep sending me changes to the schedule. *twitch*
Someone please tell me why I haul my hiney down to the southside and spend 3-4 hours in the car doing so, not to mention the 2-3 hours at the meetings, once a week for scheduling meetings if in the three weeks before the convention, everything I did will get undone?
Anyone have a copy of Illustrator handy? Mine is missing (it is probably in all the stuff for Dragon*Con, lost like everything else), and having to format my C drive on the desktop killed it. If not, I am going to be hand inking the backstage pass... and the Dawn one... and the Dead Dog one... *twitch*
Must... find... Caribou... must... have... Chai... latte...
Oh, and...
Must kill pop-up "friendly" reminder that the printer needs the Pocket Program tomorrow....

Date: 2004-08-24 12:26 pm (UTC)It looks like I'm going to Dragon Con, so I may get to actually see you again! If you ever stand still long enough, that is! I'm still roomspace hunting, but I've got my ride covered, and my money for a con badge, so I'm feeling pretty good about it. Wish Chalice was going though.
See you soon, hon!

Again, if you need help, Matthew and I are there for you! Just give us a buzz and we're there.
